Sea Cliff Bridge is located on Lawrence Hargrave Drive between the suburbs of Coalcliff and Clifton 60 kilometers south of the Sydney central business district. At current fuel prices it would cost you an average of $35 roundtrip from Sydney to travel to the area via car, or $14.40 per person by train. A great day trip for little cost! In consideration of the continuing increase in fuel costs (MotorMouth lists the best per litre price), how much cheaper would it be to travel to work via train v's car? Just a thought.

RAIL

CityRail operates frequent services to the Northern Illawarra, Wollongong and beyond. If you want to experience a great Bridge rail/walk day trip then take a South Coast Service to Scarborough railway station, which is just a 1.6 kilometer walk south of the Bridge. You could return to Scarborough station at the completion of your Bridge walk, or join a CityRail service at Coalcliff station, a reasonably hilly 1.7 kilometer walk north of Sea Cliff Bridge. Travelling via train reduces the impact of road traffic on the local environment and residents.
CityRail services all of the Northern Illawarra coastal villages.
Bring something to eat and drink, and in the summer months plenty of sunscreen. Binoculars are handy during the whale watching season.

ROAD

From South of Sea Cliff Bridge: Google Maps provides a detailed route map.
Exercise caution when driving along Lawrence Hargrave Drive. The route is narrow and twisting at certain points, and the road is shared by bike riders.
Park your vehicle at either the Northern or Southern end of the bridge. There you will also find restrooms. Walk the 2.4 kilometer round trip and soak up the awesome views! It is a very spiritual place. Invigorating to the MAX! Allow a good hour for the round trip walk.
Plan also to drive along the Grand Pacific Drive and visit other spectacular Northern Illawarra coastal villages and more. Note that from Stanwell Tops through to Thirroul the speed limit is 60 kilometers per hour (including Sea Cliff Bridge).
Note: Mobile phone signal strength is low on Sea Cliff Bridge. There is no bridge lighting at night.
Places to eat are located at Stanwell Park, Scarborough (the nearest to the bridge is the Scarborough Hotel 2 kms south), Wombarra Bowlo, Coledale, Austimer, Thirroul and beyond.
Restroom facilities are located at the parking areas at each end of the Bridge.
The closest fuel stations are located at Bulli-Woonona.

Bicycle

As per the above directions. You might want to follow the famous "Sydney to Gong" bike route. Caution: Bike safety is particularly important as Lawrence Hargrave Drive can be a challenging road for bike riders. A Lawrence Hargrave Drive road profile can be found here.

Tourist Buses

It is preferable to park all tourist buses at the Southern end of the Bridge (depending on availability). Greens Northern Coaches run a regular commuter bus service from Helensburg through to Wollongong and return.

Seniors Travel

Those Seniors travelling to Sea Cliff Bridge should allow approximately 1.5 hours to complete the return Bridge walk. It is preferable to allow Seniors to disembark their bus transport at the Southern End, at the first set of parking bays.
